But at Villa Cavalletti, agriculture is mostly about people. Villa Cavalletti is a historic estate in the Castelli Romani, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, just outside Rome. It is a place of beauty, tradition and hospitality. We produce wine and extra virgin olive oil and welcome guests to our agriturismo, where they can experience authentic rural life.

But what really defines Villa Cavalletti is not just what we produce, but how we produce it. At the core of our work is a strong belief: agriculture can be a tool for inclusion, dignity and opportunity. At Villa Cavalletti, people with cognitive disabilities are part of our daily life. They are not visitors. They are not observers. They are workers, colleagues and members of our community.

In the farmhouse, they help welcome guests, support simple service activities, help in the kitchen and take care of the common areas. These tasks are carefully structured according to their abilities, allowing them to grow in confidence and responsibility.

In the countryside, during the olive harvest and grape harvest, young people with cognitive disabilities work alongside our team. They pick olives by hand. They pick grapes under the autumn sun. They participate in the rhythm of the seasons, just as generations before them did.

There is something powerful about this.

When a young man sees the grapes he has harvested turn into wine, or the olives he has picked turn into oil, he sees a concrete result of his efforts. He feels useful. He feels capable. He feels proud. And we also see the transformation. We see self-esteem grow. We see autonomy develop. We see families nurture hope.

Nature becomes a space for learning, but also for healing and belonging.

Social farming at Villa Cavalletti is not a side project. It is part of our identity. It is ingrained in our business model. We believe that economic sustainability and social responsibility can grow together, just like vines in a well-tended field.

Our guests sense this difference. They do not just taste our wine or our oil. They live in a place where every bottle, every vintage, carries with it a story of inclusion and shared commitment.

In a world that often excludes the most fragile, Villa Cavalletti chooses to include. In a society that measures value only in terms of productivity, we also choose to measure it in terms of dignity. For us, farming is not just about cultivating the land.

It is about cultivation.

CULTIVATE AS A TOOL FOR INCLUSION, DIGNITY AND OPPORTUNITY.

When we think of agriculture, we often think of land, vines, olive trees and production.
