Nature is not merely the setting in which Villa Cavalletti is located, but an essential part of the experiences offered to visitors. Botanicafolias and Bosco nel Piatto have enhanced the historic park through two distinct trails dedicated to biodiversity and culinary culture.
The Botanicafolias event, organized in collaboration with the Rosso Tiziano nursery in San Cesareo, took place at Villa Cavalletti on May 21 and 22, 2022.
Nursery owners from all over Italy showcased rare plants and flowers, attracting enthusiasts, experts, and visitors. The colors and scents of the exhibits guided visitors on a journey of discovery through the park and its natural habitats.
The event also featured guided tours, booths dedicated to crafts, and food and wine areas where wines and products from the Tierre Organic Farm were showcased. The exhibition thus brought together botanical culture, agricultural production, and knowledge of the local area.
With “Bosco nel Piatto,” biodiversity has instead become the starting point for a culinary experience. The activity took participants on a guided walk through the centuries-old olive groves, the vineyard, and the historic estate’s monumental park.
Along the way, we identified and gathered edible wild herbs that grow naturally in the fields. The experience continued at the historic olive mill and the Olive Oil Museum, where the freshly picked herbs were used to prepare a few dishes to serve with aperitifs.
The event concluded on the panoramic terrace with locally sourced foods and a glass of wine from Villa Cavalletti’s selection. Cooking thus made it possible to transform what we observed and gathered in the park into a firsthand experience of knowledge and taste.
