AN INTEGRATED, INCLUSIVE, AND SUSTAINABLE ECOSYSTEM

INTRODUCTION
Following the relocation of the Catholic Integration Community in 2014 to Rome, the complex is undergoing a gradual process of sustainable and environmentally friendly regeneration by a private group, with the aim of protecting its precious beauty and at the same time restoring its former splendor in harmony with its lofty, prestigious and significant international history.
For the rebirth of such an important site in terms of historical, cultural and scenic value, we proceeded according to the dimensions of social, environmental and economic sustainability, thoroughly studying the historical uses and updating them to maintain a continuum of meaning, exclusively applying the dictates of green building regeneration and weaving relationships and synergies with the area to enhance it.

SLOW TOURISM
Villa Cavalletti views slow tourism as a mindful way to experience the local area, bringing together nature, culture, agriculture, and hospitality. On the estate’s 27 hectares, guests can stroll through the historic park, among the centuries-old olive trees, and through the vineyard, or explore the Castelli Romani on the property’s e-mountain bikes. The use of renewable energy, electric vehicles, organic, artisanal, and locally sourced products, and the recovery of resources in accordance with circular economy principles all help reduce environmental impact. Our hospitality also reflects this philosophy: cleaning is done using natural, VeganOK-certified products made in Italy, while the guest amenities are made with the estate’s own extra virgin olive oil. An authentic experience that respects the local surroundings and their natural rhythms.

REGENERATION
The Academy building, which now houses the complex’s hospitality facilities and main services, has been completely renovated in accordance with green building principles and nZEB criteria, which apply to nearly zero-energy buildings. The renovation preserved the identity of the modernist architecture while improving the efficiency, comfort, and quality of the spaces. The building is powered by renewable energy sources, and the units are finished with Ecolabel-certified materials, selected for their environmental quality and because they are free of toxic or allergenic substances. The estate’s historic buildings, on the other hand, have undergone conservation-oriented restoration using traditional techniques and materials, combining heritage preservation, reuse, and sustainability.
Villa Cavalletti has received numerous awards, including a mention in the Italian Touring Club’s *Guide to Hotels and Restaurants in Italy*
AWARDS
Villa Cavalletti has received recognition for its model of sustainable hospitality and agriculture. The property was recognized in the “Electric Friendly” section of the 2024 Guide to Hotels and Restaurants in Italy—produced in collaboration with eV-Now! and published by the Italian Touring Club—for its electric mobility services. Along with the Castelli Romani Regional Park, Villa Cavalletti also served as an ambassador for OENOMED, a European project dedicated to sustainable viticulture in protected areas of the Mediterranean, which concluded in 2023. The estate’s monumental olive grove has finally been recognized as a Slow Food Presidium called “Olivi Secolari”: an initiative to protect biodiversity, the agricultural landscape, and organic farming practices that respect natural cycles.
