Villa Cavalletti with Tusculum at the Rome IGP Olive Oil Festival

Tusculum – Olio et Amo olive oil from Villa Cavalletti took center stage at the first edition of the Rome IGP Olive Oil Festival, accompanying visitors through the various stops along a route that wound its way through Rome’s most iconic sites.

Organized by the Consorzio dell’Olio di Roma IGP to coincide with Rome’s birthday, the festival intertwined the culture of extra virgin olive oil with the capital’s millennia-old history, evoking the ancient agricultural celebrations of the Palilia. Tastings, master classes, meetings, workshops, and guided tours have transformed the city into an itinerary dedicated to quality, sustainability, and an understanding of the olive production chain.

The event began with a press conference at Palazzo Valentini and continued at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, as part of the Festival del Verde e del Paesaggio. Villa Cavalletti also participated in the Vinitaly event, where the Olio di Roma IGP was presented in the Lazio Region Pavilion, where it was showcased to industry professionals and an international audience.

In Testaccio, a visit to the Monte dei Cocci and a master class on pairing olive oil, wine, and cheese highlighted the historic connection between Rome and its countryside. At the Roma Appia Run, on the other hand, olive oil has become a symbol of well-being, vitality, and the connection between nutrition and sports.

The tour arrived at the Temple of Vibia Sabina and Hadrian, which hosted the producers’ exhibition, tasting masterclasses, conferences, and events dedicated to Italian cuisine, olive oil tourism, and new perspectives on certified products.

The first edition concluded on April 21—Rome’s birthday—with the L’Eterno Award ceremony held at the Curia Iulia, within the Colosseum Archaeological Park. The award was presented to individuals, institutions, and producers committed to promoting the culture of extra virgin olive oil and Roman identity around the world.

To round out the experience, a special evening at Palazzo Silvestri-Rivaldi, with Rome at sunset and the Colosseum in the background. In this setting, alongside the Tusculum olive oil, the Villa Cavalletti Roma DOC Riserva was also presented, bringing together two of the estate’s signature products.

For Villa Cavalletti, the Festival was a wonderful opportunity to come together: a journey through archaeology, landscape, flavor, and well-being, in which olive oil reaffirmed itself as a living expression of identity, history, and the future.
